Golf Etiquette Do’s and Don’ts

Call for a “tee” time. Check in ten minutes early and be ready to play.
• Do your stretching and practice swings before you get to the first tee.
• When it’s your turn, take only one practice swing.
• If men and women tee off at the same distance, either may start first.
• After the first hole, the person with the lowest score tees off first.
• Move quickly to the next tee and mark your scores from the last hole there.
• If the group behind you has fewer players and there is space ahead of you, let them play through.
• Be ready to play as soon as the group in front of you is safely out of range.
• When someone is swinging stay still, don’t speak and stand to the side and behind the flight line of the ball.
• Yell “fore” if you think a ball may hit someone.
• If you are riding on the cart path when someone is about to take a swing, stop the cart and wait until they are finished.
• Volunteer to find a lost ball. After five minutes let the group behind you play though.
