Private Club Etiquette






Invited to a private club? Enjoy the opportunity and follow these guidelines:
• Be on your best behavior. Your actions reflect on you, your company and your host. If you are rude or misbehave in anyway, not only will your host be embarrassed, he may have to account for it.
• Don’t quiz your host about membership dues or other members.
• Don’t ask someone you don’t know well to sponsor you.
• Dress appropriately. If you don’t know the dress code, call the club’s office and find out.
• On arrival give your name and the name of the member who invited you.
• Don’t order anything or wander around the club before your host arrives.
• Don’t discuss business or use your cell phone in the public areas of the club.
• Don’t tip anyone until you ask your host about the club’s policy.
• Don’t offer to pay. Your host signs a tab and is billed at the end of the month. Reciprocate the hospitality in some other way.
• Send a hand written thank you note to your host.
