“thx 4 gift I ♥ it”

Is this text the thank you note of the future?

Sometimes as parents, we have become so used to the instant forms of communication we don’t even think of sending a hand written thank you note for a holiday party or gift, never mind prompting our children to do so. Generally, it doesn’t occur to children to write letters to grandmothers or thank you notes without encouragement from an adult.

However progressive we are, no amount of technology can ever replace the art of the hand written letter or card. It shows the person that you think enough of them to take the time to sit down and write. It’s important for children to develop this skill, not only to develop their writing skills, but to teach them to become courteous and gracious.
