New Job?
How do you start a new job off right? After you are settled in, find a reliable buddy to help you with the little things that make the company run. Use a casual conversational style so that you are likeable not intrusive or annoying. Remember some of the people in your new department may have applied for the job you now have. Be sensitive if you ask questions about job descriptions as some people are reluctant to give too much information to a new recruit.
Some questions you might ask are:
- “How can I work better with your group?”
- “How do you prefer to work? Are you an e-mail person, phone person, or a face-to-face person?”
- “Since I am a newcomer, is there anything I should know about before I start doing my job?”
